    We have openings for a Sample Coordinator to join our team. Sample Coordinators play a crucial role, ensuring our customer's products meet the highest standards from ideation to production.

    Freshpack is a custom cheese packaging company that develops and innovates cheese products and packaging. Our products can be found in all 50 states and in most major retailers. Over the past 25 years, our team has grown from 15 to 240+ employees. It is an exciting time to join our team, as we are poised for substantial growth over the next 3-5 years.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    Sample Production

    All types of samples, from ideation/preliminary all the way through finished ready for prime-time samples including shelf-life trials and any other production trial.

    • Prepare samples and complete sample production form.
    • Provide samples, pictures, and notes to project team.
    • Keep track of item/lot information on samples and ID samples.
    • Maintain notebook of feedback from samples.
    • Involve production team in sample preparation.
    • Work with Product Development (PD) team on estimates.
    • Work with PD team to coordinate sample levels.

    New Item Set-Up

    Perform interdisciplinary activities coordinating new item set-up with Operations, Sales, Food Safety & Product Quality, Accounting, Maintenance, and Shipping/Receiving.

    • Be primary liaison with plant floor during trial runs, shelf-life trials, and production launches.
    • Ensure all involved understand the scope and desired outcome of the operation.
    • Implement a punch list for each new item launch, maintain a list of items that should be addressed before the project is considered 'complete.'
    • During the time when the project is 'active' maintain a high(er) level of monitoring of product safety and quality. This may involve a higher number of retain samples, an increased number of inspections or sampling for package attributes, or increased level of Quality Control (QC) inspections.
    • Work with the costing team to evaluate trial and/or first and subsequent production runs during 'active' period to ensure the expected costs and efficiencies are aligned with actual costs and efficiencies.

    New Production Line Set-up

    Work closely with project team and Maintenance team on developing, transforming, and purchasing production equipment. Be involved in production line layout to ensure favorable production efficiencies.

    Yield Improvement

    Ensure plant floor is attaining the yields as approved during item set-up.

    • Coordinate with the production team and costing personnel the measurement of yield goals.
    • Establish measurable objectives.
    • Work with the production team to ensure the objectives are being monitored.
    • Work with the production team to improve yields.
    • Provide summary report to the costing team that aggregates yield data.
    Requirements:

    Skills/Abilities

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
    • Prior experience in a food manufacturing setting.
    • Background in food science.
    • Interest in process and product development.
    • Ability to work autonomously.

    Compensation details: 18-24 Hourly Wage
