Job Description

ohnson County Wastewater is looking for qualified individuals to work as an Environmental Technologist I in the Water Quality Laboratory. This person will join a team of dedicated professionals performing environmental analysis and water quality monitoring. The laboratory monitors the performance and regulatory compliance of several wastewater treatment plants, industrial pretreatment, and stormwater programs in a NELAP accredited facility.

Perform routine and non-routine laboratory analysis including BOD, COD, TSS, alkalinity, nutrients and microbiology.

Ensure testing is done within approved parameters, perform calibrations, preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and trouble shooting.

Document all results, prepare statistics and quality control data in accordance with NELAC.

Provide information and technical support to laboratory clients.

Track inventory, order supplies, perform equipment maintenance and repair.

Perform occasional field work and sample collection, including periodic on-call for storm water response.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science and one year of related experience are required. A valid driver's license and good driving record are also required.
