Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Tank Wagon Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting fuel and oil orders safely and efficiently to various customers in the Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito Counties. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to navigate different routes effectively. The Driver will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of service.
Duties
- Operate various types of vehicles, including delivery trucks and tankers.
- Must behave professionally, provide great customer service at all times, and establish a good working relationship with all customers.
- Execute route driving efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
- Load and unload fuel and oil as necessary, ensuring proper handling of materials.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes, and deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered on the road.
- Monitor and maintain customers' tanks full.
- Maintain a clean truck and loading and storage area.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a driver with a clean driving record and at least a class B driver's license with hazmat and tank endorsements.
- Basic knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to fuels and oils.
- Basic math skills
- Strong knowledge of route planning and navigation techniques.
- Ability to handle manual transmission vehicles confidently.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions on the road when necessary.
- Must wear personal protective equipment at all times.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, medical exam, and drug test.
- Must submit to random drug testing going forward.
Working Environment / Physical Demands
May be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment. The majority of the work is performed outdoors with exposure to inclement weather. Must be able to:
- Climb ladders
- Walk and stand multiple hours at a time
- Stoop, kneel and crouch
- Lift and move items weighing up to forty (40) pounds
Experience
- 1 - 3 years of experience as a commercial driver with hazmat and tank endorsements
