- Maintain a professional image and demonstrate excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues based on our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
- Must show flexibility, punctuality, and a willingness to learn in the surgical environment.
- Work under a surgeon's supervision to assist in both invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring a safe operating room environment, proper functioning equipment, and maximum patient safety.
- Ensure the readiness of OR rooms, supplies, and equipment to support efficient perioperative processes.
- Responsible for handling sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment required for surgical procedures, with a good understanding of each device.
- Assist with patient positioning and prepping following departmental and hospital policies.
- Conduct initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts, and additional counts as needed.
- Assist in draping the patient and setting up the sterile field.
- Participate in surgical site and patient verification during the time-out procedure.
- Maintain the sterile field to ensure patient and employee safety by upholding the highest standard of sterile technique.
- Prepare and handle specimen(s) as required.
- Help with patient lifting, turning, positioning, and preparation for surgical procedures using proper body mechanics.
