    Summary of Role:
    Responsible for organizing, managing, and leading the daily operations of the Credit Union's accounting functions, policies and practices. Ensure that accounting and financial procedures are aligned with generally accepted accounting principles.

    Work with various internal and external parties to ensure adequacy of internal controls and accurate and timely reporting of financial transactions for internal and external use.


    Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

    • Review and approve account reconciliations and ensure timely completion to meet corporate deadlines.
    • Review and approve general ledger entries.
    • Oversee the preparation and transmission of regulatory reports, including FRB 2900. Ensures accuracy and timely reporting.
    • Ensure accuracy and efficiency of the accounting department's daily operations.
    • Assist with monthly closing procedures including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reporting and account reconciliations.
    • Review and analyze month-end financial reports and figures to ensure proper allocation of expenses.
    • Monitor department policies and procedures and recommend improvements.
    • Implement efficiencies within the accounting department to continue to position the department to efficiently support the growth of the Credit Union.
    • Work closely with the Assistant Controller in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for addressing inquiries and resolving problems within the accounting area and other areas if necessary.
    • Serve as primary point of contact for FedLine users and perform administrative maintenance duties as needed.
    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, and training, and participating in the cross training of other accounting personnel in relation to the specific job duties and functions that have been assigned.
    • Perform or assist with other related functions and special projects as needed.

    Minimum Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Financial institution experience preferred but not required.
    • Experience leading a team, business unit or department.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
    • Ability to interpret and apply accounting principles to everyday situations.
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks and priorities at once.
    • Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and accounting software at a high level of competence.

    Starting Compensation:
    $ 77,376 - $96,720, plus a competitive benefits package
