Job summary
Nurses on this unit provide compassionate care to critically ill patients throughout the organ transplant continuum. As a member of the transplant care team, nurses provide specialized care to patients who are awaiting or recovering from organ transplant surgery.Provides charge nurse responsibilities including assignments and management of throughput and responds to patient and staff needs. Manages patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs assists with hiring education and performance evaluation of staff works with Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling discipline of staff instructs staff ensures compliance through daily monitoring performance management serves as role model mentor for excellence in clinical practice patient employee satisfaction takes personal responsibility for achieving productivity targets budget compliance has primary involvement responsibility for unit performance improvement activities outcomes must be able to perform professional clinical technical competencies assigned unit department other duties may be assigned required education experience high school graduate bachelor degree nursing southwest KC market locations nurses hired after November 1 BSN degree is required upon hire ADN prepared nurses hired before November 1 must be enrolled BSN degree program within months hire date complete BSN degree third anniversary hire date preferred education experience master degree nursing years clinical experience required licensure certification basic cardiac life support American Heart Association licensed registered nurse multi-state state board nursing registered nurse Kansas Missouri
