- Roman Catholic with a commitment to ministry in these contexts: Catholic, ecumenical, multi-religious/interreligious
- Master of Divinity or Master's Degree in Theology, Spirituality, or a related field required
- 3-5 years of experience in ministry, preferably in ministry with young adults
- Familiarity with the Holy Cross Charism preferred
- Supervisory experience, experience in working with Catholic priests, and desire to work with ecumenical and interfaith chaplains to meet the needs of a spiritually diverse student population
- Experience with planning Roman Catholic Mass, musical expertise strongly preferred

Job DescriptionGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Seeking to foster the vibrancy of faith life at Saint Mary's College, the Assistant Director for Ministry and Spiritual Formation promotes Catholic, ecumenical, and interreligious/multi-religious spiritual development in the context of Catholic and Holy Cross higher education. This position provides engaging spiritual experiences for students and supports the growth of faith communities on campus. The Assistant Director guides the direction of liturgical life, small faith sharing groups, retreats, and interfaith outreach. This position oversees a team of chaplains and student leaders who assist in coordination of all spiritual and ministerial initiatives through the Center for Faith, Action, and Ministry.
Job Description
The Assistant Director for Ministry and Spiritual Formation leads all aspects of college-wide ministry, fosters the growth of the faith community, forms students for missionary discipleship, and facilitates ecumenical and interreligious outreach to students of diverse backgrounds. The AD guides the overall liturgical and prayer life of the college community, including planning Sunday and daily Masses, training liturgical ministers, developing prayer and worship opportunities outside of Mass, and providing support for ecumenical and interfaith services. Additionally, the AD implements a robust retreat program for students with an emphasis on (1) building enduring community, (2) exploring specific theological content informed by Catholic intellectual tradition and the charism of Holy Cross, and (3) introducing practices that help to nurture the formation of students who are new to spiritual exploration. The AD facilitates sacramental preparation processes, provides spiritual direction and pastoral care to students, and explores pilgrimage opportunities in the Holy Cross tradition.
The AD for Ministry and Spiritual Formation supervises the Catholic priest chaplain team, the Ecumenical Chaplain, and teams of student leaders. In particular, the AD coordinates student leaders for spiritual life including small group leaders, retreat leaders, and liturgical/music ministers, as well as supports formation of the Ministry Assistants.
The AD for Ministry and Spiritual Formation works closely with the Director of CFAM and AD for Justice and Solidarity for strategic planning, budgeting, and leadership of faith and justice initiatives of the Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
Schedule
40 hours/week, 12 months. Due to the nature of student programming, this position will require periodic evening and weekend hours as assigned.
