    Position Summary


    The Division of Infectious Diseases/Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases is seeking a motivated Research Technician that will be responsible for database management, data analysis and bioinformatics in a global health molecular epidemiology lab.

    The research technician will be responsible for managing databases for multiple large observational studies, including designing forms, providing quality checks, providing training and monitoring data quality.

    In addition, they will participate in data analysis of studies, requiring basic statistical experience and ability to conduct logistic regressions, bivariate risk assessment and other statistical methods.

    Lastly, experience with bioinformatics is required as the research technician will assist in basic bioinformatic analysis of molecular epidemiology studies.


    The person will work in conjunction with other lab members, including other technicians, the lab manager, a senior graduate student, and a postdoctoral scholar.

    They will report to the physician-scientist and principal investigator.

    They will have the opportunity to interact with trainees at all levels in a highly collaborative research group pursuing translational research on a range of infectious diseases and global health projects.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

    Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

    Attention to detail.

    Experience working in collaborative group setting.

    The position will require lab work in molecular biology, sequencing and serology assays.

    Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience


    Prefer candidate with experience in molecular biology (execution of the molecular work requires familiarity with malaria and tropical diseases); experience with large datasets; experience with PCR, qPCR, DNA extraction, and next-generation sequencing library preparation.

    The candidate needs data management skills and to be familiar with the literature in malaria and malaria genetics. Experience in a molecular biology lab.
