    Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Oncology

    As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Oncology department, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with hematological and oncological illnesses. You will utilize patient-family centered care principles, collaborate with medical professionals, and engage in continuous learning opportunities focused on chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and end-of-life care.

    About the Unit:
    Medical Oncology is an inpatient unit with 30-bed capacity to go up to 36 beds. We specialize in treating patients with hematological and oncological illnesses, including cardiac telemetry patients. Our full-time RNs are chemo certified, and we support part-time and PRN RNs in becoming chemo certified as well.

    Care Opportunities:
    Working with oncology patients provides an incredible amount of learning opportunities, including working with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, end-of-life care, and assisting with unique bedside procedures. Our care spans from initial diagnosis through cure or palliation, providing not only nursing care but also educational and emotional support to patients and their families.

    About Corewell Health South - Lakeland Hospitals:
    The health system comprises three hospitals, an outpatient surgery center, a regional cancer center, rehabilitation centers, long-term care residences, home care and hospice services, and affiliate physician practice locations. We provide inpatient and outpatient medical services throughout Southwest Michigan.

    Scope of Work:
    The RN uses the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes.

    Qualifications:
    Associate's in Nursing required, Bachelor's in Nursing within 5 years. MI Registered Nurse (RN) required, AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days. Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification required for full-time employees.

    Eligibility:
    Employment type and status determine eligibility for benefits. Full-time employment at Lakeland Hospital St Joseph, night shift, 36 hours per week, variable days, every other weekend.
