Working Title Fitness & Aquatics Coordinator Physical Location of Position (City) Brookings South Dakota State University (SDSU ) Miller Wellness Center is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Fitness & Aquatics Coordinator. We are looking for an energetic, creative, self-driven and innovative professional to join the team. This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit eligible position. This position is supervised by the Assistant Director Programs & Development. SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can manage the operations of group fitness classes, aquatic programs (water aerobics, lifeguarding and swimming lessons) and personal training. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position. **RESPONSIBILITIES :**

Promote, manage, and market group exercise classes, aquatic programs, and personal training to students and members.

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate group exercise instructors, aquatic staff, and personal trainers.

Plan staff development, in-service programs, and continuing education workshops.

Perform fitness assessments, personal training sessions, conduct group exercise, and aquatic classes.

Evaluate the delivery of programs and services to meet fiscal goals.

Support Miller Wellness Center staff in daily operations.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :**

A Bachelors degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Fitness, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Wellness, or related field by start date;

At least one year of experience in a related field;

Staff supervisory experience;

Experience in group exercise instruction, aquatic programming, or personal program development and implementation;

Strong personal skills in planning, organizing, and completing projects with little supervision;

Effective oral and written communication skills.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :**

Masters degree in a related field;

Lifeguard Instructor certification; (can be completed within 6 months after the start date);

NCCA accredited certification in Personal Training or Group Fitness Instructor, or similar. (ACSM , NSCA , ACE , AFAA , etc.) (can be completed within 3 months after the start date);

First Aid and CPR certified;

Water Safety Instructor (WSI certified) (can be completed within 6 months after the start date).
