- For City Council for initial two-year term.
- Term reappointment start date will be TBD in 2024.
- Current Pay rate is $74.84/hour
- A JurisDoctorate from an accredited law school.
- At least five years of legal work experience.
- Current membership in the Arizona State Bar Association.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
- Presides over a variety of hearings including misdemeanor and civil traffic, zoning, juvenile cases, orders of protection, and injunctions prohibiting harassment cases filed with the Scottsdale City Court.
- Imposes sentences commensurate to the offense and with the parameters allowed by law.
- Conducts interviews for orders of protection and harassment injunctions and prepares appropriate orders.
- Performs duties as a backup and /or substitute Judge in the event of expected and unexpected absences of City Judges.
- At request, presides over the administrative hearings for the revocation of City issued licenses.
- Determines pleas, motions, sentencing issues, also decides extended time payment, restitution, revocation or probation and forfeiture of bond hearings.
- Sit in a courtroom setting for extended time periods.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including computer, telephone, calculator, copy machine, fax machine and require continuous repetitive arm, hand and eye movement.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- On-call to include weekend jail court.
- Fingerprinting search of the national FBI Database

IntroductionAbout the Position
Performs professional Pro Tempore (Pro Tem) judicial duties involved in interpreting and applying the local, State and Federal laws, conducts the hearing of minimal court cases and determines cases which are in the jurisdiction of the Court.
