    Job Title: Pharmacy Technician, Associate

    UPMC Rx Partners is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician, Associate to join their dedicated team.

    The Pharmacy Technician, Associate provides pharmaceutical care to patients within the UPMC Health System by assisting with the preparation and distribution of medications, ensuring compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Filling: Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting, and stocking practices. Initial and date products as required.
    • Filling: Prepare oral and injectable medications, including intravenous admixtures and TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition), for administration at the appropriate time using proper technique.
    • Filling: Consistently work in the Sterile Product area preparing cytotoxic and hazardous drugs using proper aseptic technique.
    • Distribution: Participate in the distribution of medication, including medication cassettes, emergency medication carts, and controlled substances per department policy and state and federal requirements.
    • Distribution: Retrieve discontinued medications and return them to the pharmacy area.
    • Distribution: Develop and maintain positive relationships during medication distribution.
    • Investigational: Assist with investigational and study drugs procurement, storage, preparation, and distribution.
    • General: Provide and receive information to hospital personnel, patients, and visitors, referring drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists.
    • General: Ensure medications are stored according to regulations.
    • General: Maintain a clean, organized work environment.
    • General: Practice hand hygiene and use computer skills to process patient information.
    • General: Maintain documentation, including inventory logs and sales records.
    • General: Comply with laws and regulations, such as HIPAA and OSHA.
    • General: Procure and maintain adequate inventory levels.
    • General: Maintain automated med stations and assist in training pharmacy personnel and students.
    • General: Demonstrate accuracy and skill in maintaining controlled substance records and distribution process.
