Faculty Position - Atlanta, United States - Emory
Description
Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.
The Department of Epidemiology, Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, seeks scholars for faculty appointments at all academic ranks, in tenure-track and research-track positions. We are seeking candidates that will contribute to well-established areas within the Department (infectious diseases, epidemiologic methods, social epidemiology, perinatal, pediatric and reproductive epidemiology, cardiometabolic disease, genetic/molecular epidemiology, cancer), and to expanding areas of research (mental health, injury epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology). Individuals with strong methodological backgrounds will be preferred. Candidates for senior positions should have an established record of scholarship, extramural funding as a principal investigator, and evidence of excellence in teaching. Candidates for tenure-track positions must demonstrate the potential to become independent investigators and graduate-level teachers.
The Department of Epidemiology consists of 44 primary faculty with a wide range of research interests; an additional 67 joint faculty members hold primary appointments in other departments (e.g., Environmental and Occupational Health, Global Health, Behavioral Sciences and Health Education, Medicine) and 34 adjunct faculty, many affiliated with the neighboring Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Cancer Society. Our mission is to improve public health through education, research, and service. We are committed to proactively working against historical and structural barriers that preclude equitable opportunities for participation in our mission based on race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious identity, national or cultural origin, disability, and other human characteristics. The diversity of our community is a strength that we aim to cultivate. We offer highly competitive salaries, excellent medical and retirement benefits, a wide array of personal and professional resources, and an outstanding community of students and scholars with diverse professional and life experiences.
Departmental faculty hold >$43 million in yearly extramural research funding. The Department houses several research centers including the state Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program, the Center for Public Health Preparedness and Research, the Center for Spina Bifida Research, Prevention, and Policy, the Emory Program in Cardiovascular Outcomes Research and Epidemiology (EPICORE), and the PRISM Health (Programs, Research and Innovation for Sexual and Minority Health) Research Group. The Department offers the MPH, MSPH and PhD degrees and collaborates in offering a Masters of Science in Clinical Research degree for biomedical investigators.
The Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) is currently ranked 4th nationally among schools of public health by the US News and World Report. The campus is adjacent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The School is part of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center, which also includes the Emory Schools of Medicine and Nursing, the Emory Global Health Institute, the Winship Cancer Institute, and Emory Healthcare. RSPH enjoys the benefits of its location in Atlanta, a vibrant, welcoming, and dynamic city, a global hub, and home to a diverse and growing population.
Applicants must apply through the Emory Careers Website for requisition #69411 (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) and should also send a letter indicating their interest accompanied by a curriculum vitae to: Alvaro Alonso, M.D., Ph.D., Professor, Department of Epidemiology, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, by email c/o Diane Johnson-Alexander, .
