    Postdoctoral position in genomic at the Gladstone Institutes/UCSF
    Are you interested in genomic, big data, and working on the most diverse biobanks combining HER and multi-omic approaches to better understand cardiovascular diseases while working in the heart of the Silicon Valley?

    The Tcheandjieu lab at the Gladstone Institutes and UCSF is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to work in collaboration with Jennifer Lee, MD, PhD, Stanford endocrinologist and molecular epidemiologist with Lee Lab. Dr. Lee is the PI for LEAP at Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow with background in biostatistics, bioinformatics, or molecular epidemiology. A major emphasis of our research program is using genomics to make discoveries with in with a special focus on
    underrepresented populations.

    Responsibilities:
    The successful applicant will be immersed in cutting-edge population genetic and molecular epidemiology studies of complex traits and diseases using large-scale population biobanks, such as the Million Veteran Program, the UK Biobank, and the AllofUS, to study the complex genetic interplay in cardiometabolic diseases. You will lead end-to-end studies from hypotheses to analysis plans, implementation and pipelining, to methods assessment and result reporting or publication. You will be working with a variety of data types generated by various platforms and technologies (eg, whole genome sequence, GW genotyped/imputed SNPs , RNA-seq, proteomics). Experience with genetic association studies, polygenic risk prediction, Mendelian Randomization, longitudinal designs with repeated measures are recommended. You will have opportunities for methods development, technical writing for grant applications and manuscripts, travel for conferences, meeting presentation and further training to develop your expertise and skill sets.

    Required Qualifications:

    • MD or PhD with experience in bioinformatics, statistics, or molecular epidemiology (or similar quantitative fields).
    • Experience with analysis of sequence data, large biological datasets using R, Python, bash, or equivalent.
    • Experience in statistical genetics or incorporating various biological data types is a plus.
