    Job Summary

    This is an entry-level pharmacy technician position that involves working under the supervision of a pharmacist and assisting with medication dispensing and record-keeping tasks. The successful candidate will maintain pharmacy inventory levels and integrity while performing various duties such as labeling medications, reconstituting additives, and answering patient care area calls.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and label oral, injectable, and other medications for patients under pharmacist supervision and verification.
    • Reconstitute additives, calculate volumes, and mix IV solutions and nutritional products according to departmental procedures using aseptic technique.
    • Answer telephone calls from patient care areas about dispensing issues, IVs, and general order issues, referring clinical and pharmacologic questions to the pharmacist.
    • Prepare unit-dose packages of solid and injectable preparations from bulk stock.
    • Perform IV rounds to monitor solution utilization with additives.
    • Prepare IV labels and initiate/maintain IV additive profiles on patients receiving medication.
    • Credit returned and unused medication to patient profiles in the computer.
    • Restock and maintain inventory levels in immediate working areas.
    • Perform ADM activities, including running reports, restocking, and billing.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Education: High school graduate preferred.
    • Licensure: Registration as a pharmacy technician or intern pharmacist with the California State Board of Pharmacy required.
    • Experience: Completion of a pharmacy technologist training program.
    • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Compensation

    $33.24-$38.98 per hour (based on years of experience); Per diem differential rates apply.
