    THE ROLE:CORPORATE CONTROLLER

    AHA's Corporate Controller is responsible for leading a team of accounting professionals and the management of the department to obtain organizational objectives. In this position, the Controller will be responsible for developing strong relationships with internal and external clients and the coordination of resources to achieve Company objectives. He/she will possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and is required to have strong verbal and written communication skills, providing clear direction to staff, and evaluating performance of their team.

    Requirements

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operation functions for the Company.
    • Preparation and delivery of timely monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP to drive operational performance of the Company.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor the accounting close process that includes the analytical review of monthly operating results as well as preparation of all required workpapers and support of month-end balances.
    • Responsible for ensuring the overall integrity of financial statement reporting of the Company.
    • Partner with business leaders; create, implement, and monitor finance and accounting policies and procedures servicing all departments within the organization.
    • Enforce compliance of policies and procedures to drive fiscal discipline, operational effectiveness and realize efficiencies.
    • Responsible for various tax filings including but not limited to sales and use and property.
    • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax compliance. Responsibility includes working with the Company's outside tax preparers to provide required information to meet Federal and State filing obligations.
    • Actively manage and oversee the Company's accounts payable operations, ensuring the department is meeting organizational objectives and in compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Management of general ledger reporting structure to ensure internal and external reporting requirements are obtained.
    • Responsibility over Company's asset management, maintenance of fixed asset records, coordinating annual inventory of fixed assets with the information technology and laboratory operations departments.
    • Coordinates and work with external auditors, assisting in the preparation of audit schedules, data, and providing information. Works closely with the accounting staff to coordinate efforts to provide needed information for the auditors.
    • Oversee the recruitment of employee candidates, leverage sourcing, composing a workforce that meets the functional needs of each position to be staffed.
    • Create, implement, and monitor employee relations to drive culture and job satisfaction across department personnel.
    • Create and prepare standard KPI reporting package and analyze data pertaining to the department and organizational objectives, distributing to executive manager and department staff as required.
    • Complete annual Performance Evaluations on team members in a timely manner.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provides work direction plus has responsibility for hiring, promoting, transfers, performance management, discipline, and discharge, etc.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years progressive accounting experience.
    • Prior supervisory experience with a minimum of four direct reports.
    • Proficient in accounting information systems.
    • Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in good standing or CPA candidacy.
    • Experience in the review, edit and execution of legal documents and contracts.
    • Prior experience hiring, managing, and training accounting and finance personnel.
    • Appraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employees.
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. Superior Excel proficiency.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting ERP platforms.
    • Ability to speak and communicate effectively and professionally, always, in person/writing/via telephone.
    • Excellent math skills, strong ability to solve complex mathematic problems.
