    Summary

    Develop and execute automation solutions for the modernization and new installation of Level 1 control systems for Electric Arc Furnaces, Vacuum Tank Degassers, Continuous Casters, Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, and other Metallurgy equipment.

    What you'll do

    • Develop and implement PLC based automation control systems that include motion control, advanced sensors, VFD drives, and actuators
    • Support existing installed systems
    • Perform Level 1 control system programming based on the function descriptions and mechanical and hydraulic layouts
    • Complete sophisticated assignments requiring development of new and/or improved engineering techniques and procedures
    • Interface and communicate with local project team (project managers, engineers, support personnel) and internal experts as well customers and suppliers to provide engineering solutions to technical issues and project-related matters
    • Conduct integrated testing and simulation of entire system before delivery to the end customer
    • Perform on site commissioning and training as required

    What you'll need

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an engineering role in metals or a similar industry
    • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Experience in automation and/or automation practices
    • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell RSloigx5000 preferred
    • Demonstrates ability to apply engineering principles to the solution of design problems
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Be willing to travel to support the project work
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills
