    Summary



    The incumbent is the Management and Program Assistant, for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, VA, Memphis TN. Incumbent works closely with the Administrative Officer to perform administrative functions of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service. Incumbent is the principal liaison between the Administrative Officer, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service and virtually all the services within the medical center.



    Duties


    The Management and Program Assistant (OA) performs a wide variety of administrative and support tasks associated with maintaining the work of the various programs and sections that comprise Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Assists in special analytical studies designed to resolve critical programmatic organizational or functional problems throughout Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service and in the resolution of interdepartmental problems, complaints and grievances, by advising, instructing and consulting with problem elements.
    • Responsible for coordinating all the administrative duties for the subsections in an effort to guarantee the primary goal of optimally delivering high quality health .care to the veterans.
    • Expertise in broad administrative levels is required to assist in meeting the needs of the service/s long range planning.
    • Coordinates closely with the Fiscal Service to insure that all obligations conform to the overall budget plan.
    • Implement changes and organize the operation of procurement of equipment, supplies, and services in an efficient manner.
    • Responsible for the management of any sharing agreements, IPA, and gainshare agreements in which the service participates.
    • Acts as alternate on the management of the credentialing of all Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service physicians including WOC and Consultants.
    • Prepares drafts of all memos requiring professional standard board consideration for promotions, special pay advances and Title 38 employees of Pathology & Laboratory medicine Service.
    • Researches and coordinates replies to routine, nontechnical correspondence, and composes, signs in his/her own name or service chief's name, returning with no direction/supervision.
    • Acts as the approving official on all timekeeping entries.
