    Duties


    This position is located under the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in Washington, District of Columbia.

    The primary purpose of this position is to serves as a writer-editor and technical authority on written materials produced by the assigned office.

    As a Writer - Editor, GS , your typical work assignments may include:

    • Performs working knowledge of publishing concepts, grammar, writing and editing practices, and style format requirements of the Bureau to prepare and present information (e.g., regulations, reports, industry circulars, correspondence, etc.) in a clear manner and at a level appropriate for the intended audience.
    • Plans the work, develops analytical methods, and resolves all but the most complex problems in presenting the written information.
    • Follows precedents from similar written products to write and edit complete and accurate materials.
    • Modifies established methods or derives new methods of developing and presenting information to maximize understanding and minimize controversy among intended audiences.
    • Stays abreast of developments and displays initiative in recommending solutions to problems and developing innovative work methods.
