    Job Description
    • Support the preparation of the preliminary plant design of the collection system and low voltage system for renewable energy facilities including wind farms, PV plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.
    • Support in the management of electrical engineering contractors assigned to work on the design of the plant, including definition of requirements and specifications, review of engineering drawings and RFI management.
    • Maintain and optimize plant engineering design criteria and technical specifications for all equipment and works involved in the constructions of the plant.
    • Support the contractual negotiation with electrical engineering contractors regarding general technical areas such as engineering, equipment specifications, performance/testing schedules, etc.
    • Support and conduct engineering analysis of new technologies and performance evaluation.
    • Manage and coordination of external consultants to complete the internal assessments.
    • Undertake site visits internationally to ensure technically the quality of the plant at different stages of the project, from construction to commissioning.
    • Support the development of tools and procedures for ensuring consistency, quality and optimize design cost.
    • Optimize design to maximize ROI.
    • Provide engineering consulting support to project managers in the preliminary design and engineering of the plant.
    • Provide engineering consulting support to other areas of the organization, including O&M and Power Marketing.
    • Conduct plant equipment technical review and specifications including PV modules, inverters (solar and storage), wind turbines, BESS containers, trackers, and up to some extend switchgears, cables, transformers, other MV/HV equipment.
    • Develop and maintain electrical specifications and requirements to define Acciona standards to contractors. Ensure consistency with Acciona Corporate specifications.
    • Contribute to the electrical "Safety in Design" process for all Acciona projects in development and engineering.
    • Ensure compliance of self and others on site during construction with federal, state, and local laws and with Acciona' s safety and environmental standards, policies and practices.
    • Oversee the electrical tests performed by Construction Team on site prior to and during the commissioning of the renewable energy facilities. Support the QA/QC team on site.
    • Provide electrical technical interface to support Procurement. Oversee the factory testing of the major electrical equipment to be installed at the renewable energy facilities.
    • Evaluate electrical equipment and material proposals; prepare bid tab evaluations for electrical equipment.
    • Assist with management of the Non-Conformity and the Quality Audit programs.
    • Be on-site for first energization of the collection system and first generator synchronization.
    • Review and comment on the scope of work on electrical contracts.
    • Assist with receiving and inspecting of the major pieces of electrical equipment.
    • Follow Company's processes and procedures to safely and effectively design and test Acciona renewable generating facilities for "Best in Class Performance".
    • Maintain a current understanding of renewable generation technology by participating in various training opportunities and reading Acciona and industry documents and publications as well as participating in other professional development activities.
    • Create the weekly and monthly reporting requirements for our internal and external customers, as well as KPI reporting.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.
    Required Skills and Competencies
    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required, P.E license a plus.
    • 5 years of experience in utility or power plant design preferred.
    • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to provide training on complex operations.
    • Familiarity with PV, wind and BESS industry and systems including working knowledge of modules, inverters technologies, tracking systems, energy storage technologies, transformers, cabling.
    • Good knowledge of the main players in the industry (EPCs, third party labs, etc)
    • Experience of large-scale PV plant design, construction and commissioning.
    • Experience on the preparation of PV, wind and BESS Basic Design package for the Medium Voltage and Low Voltage scope and EPC Detail Design reviews.
    • Detailed knowledge of PV array and BESS sizing and configuration, including PV and BESS design optimization.
    • Knowledge of Plant EPC contracts, including Technical Exhibits.
    • Familiarity with storage system technologies and strategies for PV applications.
    • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical theory and concepts.
    • Ability to communicate detailed information accurately to internal / external customers.
    • Ability to professionally represent the company when dealing with external organizations.
    • Demonstrate continuous commitment to safe operations. Be an active role model and constant resource to the organization.
    • Ability to travel 15% - 30% of time to domestic and international locations.
    • Able to work in an indoor or outdoor environment.
    • Have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
    • Must be able to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Bluebeam, ETAP and AutoCAD.
    • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
