    Description
    Director of Software Engineering Our client has an opening for a hands on Director of Software Engineering. This is a full time direct hire role with a rapidly growing company based out of Philadelphia. The role will work on a hybrid model.

    In this leadership role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the technical direction of our company, overseeing the software development lifecycle, and fostering a culture of excellence within the engineering organization.

    This position allows you to leverage strong technical skills in Java and modern web technologies to guide a high-performing engineering team.


    Responsibilities:
    Provide technical leadership and vision, ensuring the engineering team aligns with strategic business objectives.
    Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions using Java, Spring, JPA, Postgres, and JavaFX.
    Champion the adoption and implementation of CI/CD pipelines to streamline the software delivery process.
    Foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering team by mentoring, coaching, and providing career development opportunities.

    Manage technical debt and promote best practices in software development, including version control with Git and project management with Atlassian tools.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, etc.) to ensure seamless software delivery.
    Champion technical innovation, staying abreast of the latest trends in Java and web technologies.
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners.
    Apply a working knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles to inform software design decisions


    Qualifications:
    Minimum 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    Proven track record of building and shipping high-quality, scalable software applications.
    In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring, JPA, Postgres, JavaFX, CI/CD technologies, Git, and Atlassian tools.
    Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts.
    Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
    Passion for building and inspiring high-performing teams
