    Position Type: Part-time/ On-Call

    Overview:

    The Hawaii Convention Center, a landmark facility known for its stunning architecture and as a host for international and local events, is seeking a talented and motivated 3rd Cook to join our culinary team. This entry-level position is crucial in supporting kitchen operations by assisting in food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and contributing to the exceptional dining experiences we provide. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of cooking techniques, a willingness to learn, and a strong commitment to teamwork and quality.

    Responsibilities:

    • Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients and simple dishes under the guidance of more experienced chefs.
    • Kitchen Maintenance: Ensure the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils are clean and well-maintained, following health and safety standards.
    • Stock Management: Help manage inventory by receiving, organizing, and rotating food supplies.
    • Learning and Development: Continuously learn from senior culinary staff and take on increasing responsibilities over time.
    • Quality Control: Adhere to the convention center's standards for food quality, presentation, and hygiene.
    • Team Support: Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient operation and timely delivery of food to events.
    • Compliance: Follow all relevant health department rules/regulations and ensure compliance with food handling and safety guidelines.

    Qualifications:

    • Some culinary experience or education preferred but not required.
    • Basic understanding of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and knife skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • A team player with good communication skills.
    • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
