    Description

    Prep Cooks at The Shuckin' Shackare an important part of our Culinary Team. Prep Cooks prepare our products according to recipes, standards, and health and safety guidelines. SOB Culinary responsibilities are to provide our guests with the highest quality products. We do this by adhering to the recipes, prep shelf lives, product rotations, and proper storage procedures. SOB Prep Cooks are key in our ability to serve the quality of menu items that we do consistently. Prep Cooks can always move up within our organization once they have mastered the preparation of the food. At Shuckin' Shack, we work as a team and when help is needed, we all jump in. Prep will be asked to help the Dishwashers and Line Cooks at various times to maintain the quality, consistency, and timeliness of our menu to our guests.     Required Experience: Experience preparing foods in a high-volume restaurant.

    Preferred Experience:
    • One or more years preparing food in a high-volume restaurant.
    • Fast casual experience is also welcomed.
    Required Knowledge:
    • Basic cooking terminology.
    • Basic understanding of food items, kitchen tools, and equipment.
    • Intermediate reading skills for following recipes and build file directions.
    • Food Sanitation and Safety (can acquire upon hire).
    Required Skills:
    • Utilizing, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen equipment.
    Required Abilities:
    • Able to stand and walk for an 8-hour shift.
    • Able to read and interpret written instructions.
    • Able to have the dexterity necessary to manipulate cooking tools and equipment properly.
    • Able to communicate with staff, management, and customers effectively.
    • Able to identify problem areas and bring to management's attention.
    • Able to manage multiple activities at once and prioritize effectively.
    • Able to lift 50 lbs.
    Essential Job Duties:
    • Prepare and cook food according to recipes and prep sheet guidelines.
    • Label, date, and store food and non-food items according to standards and specifications.
    • Work and/or assist on main line as needed.
    • Work and/or assist with dishwasher as needed.
    • Ensure foods prepared are in accordance with the US FDA Food Code.
    • Keep kitchen equipment cleaned and maintained according to checklists, and as directed.
    • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines as required.
