Job Title: Accounting Clerk Support
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Accounting Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
EEO-1: 06 Administrative Support
SUMMARY:
Provides support to the Accounting Department by performing various tasks relating, but not limited, to accounts payable, financial reporting, customer service and other accounting support duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Gather, support and disperse daily accounting mail.
- Process mailed and emailed accounting invoices for payment.
- Process monthly utility accounts for payment.
- Collect non-regulated check payments, credit card receipts, and cash. Prepare for deposits providing copies as needed.
- Collect returned customer payments, forwarding to applicable parties and recording as needed.
- Maintain upstairs file and supply room, ordering supplies when needed.
- Update accounts payables and unclaimed property spreadsheets.
- Transfer hard copy accounting documents to online storage and prepare the annual transfer for off-site storage.
- Assist other team members with various tasks, including the annual audit, as needed.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:
- Position requires high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and;
- Two years office/clerical experience.
- Must possess basic computer experience and knowledge of basic windows operations (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
NICHE SKILLS:
Requires basic office environment related experience. Requires knowledge of industry terminology and general operating procedures relative to ones own job.
MENTAL EFFORT AND ANALYTICAL ABILITY:
Position requires mental effort or analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information in situations where the problems are somewhat complex.
VISUAL AND/OR PHYSICAL STRAIN:
Work regularly produces a high level of mental/visual/physical fatigue during 51% to 80% of work time.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
This position very frequently (21% to 50% of work time) requires contact with others within and/or outside the company. Matters of some financial, procedural or relational importance are discussed. The overall success of the Company may or may not be influenced by decisions made.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT AND CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR:
Work is performed in accordance with specific procedures, but incumbents must set priorities, organize work and make occasional exceptions. Errors may cause some inconvenience and confusion but very little cost in time, money or public/employee good will.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Positions has minimal or no responsibility for the work of others.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Job is performed under good working conditions, almost completely absent of disagreeable elements. Associate is exposed to adverse or hazardous working conditions 5% or less of total work time.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Climb stairs and/or ladders
Lift boxes weighing approximately 1 to 30 pounds, such as files and office supplies.
Differentiate between colors
Operate general office equipment (i.e., fax machine, photocopier, computer printer) stationed between 3 and 4 feet high
Sit for long periods of time
Stand for long periods of time.
Concentrate for prolonged periods of time
Maintain attendance according to company policy
