    US Sustainability Manager - Timberland
    This role provides an exciting opportunity within the Sustainability team, with exposure to cross-functional teams within Nuveen Natural Capital, and to cutting-edge sustainability protocols and standards. The main functions of this role are to: Support the Global Sustainability function within Timberland: this role will ensure that the global sustainability strategy for timberland is executed on each US timberland asset and lead on projects, in conjunction with the Resource Information teams, Timberland management (global, regional, operational teams), and Global Sustainability, to drive the evolution of processes to support an ambitious US timberland strategy.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties
    • Certification is the lynchpin of the timberland sustainability program. This role will liaise with operations to ensure that all US timberland assets meet and exceed certification requirements. The role will closely follow developments in timberland certification and regulation.
    • Ensure the implementation of the sustainability strategy within US Timberland
    • "This role will work closely with Sustainability, Resource Information and Operational teams in defining processes, data, and metrics to support the sustainability strategy. The role will entail working at the cutting-edge of evolving standards and protocols, including:
      i. GHG emissions and removal in line with nascent protocols including GHG protocol for Land use and Removals.
      ii. Natural Capital accounting: support in data capture and insights
      iii. Regulatory-related processes and reporting
      iv. Investor-related requests and reports
      v. Biodiversity plans and metrics to support global standards including Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). "

    Professional Experience and Skills

    A strong background and understanding of timberland, including its environmental and social impacts

    Experience with regulations, protocols, policies, certification schemes and broader incentives that support sustainable timberland management.

    Project management experience: excellent team player, capable of collaborating a broad cross section of nationalities and functions (including commercial teams, portfolio managers, audit groups).

    Strong writing and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and management skills.

    Excellent English language skills are essential.

    Experience within the forestry/ timberland operations and/or supply chain, and/or ecosystem restoration.

    Anticipated Posting End Date:

    Base Pay Range: $90,000/yr. - $130,000/yr.

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
