The Role

We are seeking a Project Support - Planning Manager or Senior Manager who will advise and assist Asset Teams with the development and management of budget, schedule, and quality controls to ensure safe and successful project delivery. This associate reinforces Constructions vision of achieving efficiency, enhancing accountability, and improving project performance and compliance. Additionally, the Manager provides leadership and strategic guidance on the following topics: construction technology, Quality Assurance (QA), innovative construction means and methods, project data analytics, and Business Intelligence (BI).

This position requires thought partnership and collaboration with Construction leadership. The Project Support - Planning Manager is expected to work independently with limited supervision.

Project Reporting Support & Cost Management Subject Matter Expert: Provides cost control guidance and educates teams on Cost Management policies and best practices.

• On a monthly basis, verifies the accuracy of active projects cost reporting, including, but not limited to, Projected Total Costs, which can be impacted by Exposure Contingency, Anticipated Commitments, etc. Analyzes active projects current budgets and remaining contingencies against their BOD budgets.
• Following Executive Management approval, prepares construction budget upload files for accounting. Processes project and building milestones in project management system.

Scheduling Subject Matter Expertise & Support: Provides schedule control guidance upon request; gains familiarity with projects by reviewing and understanding project documents and specifications. Investigates and analyzes schedule impacts to recommend corrective action to mitigate/avoid cost and schedule overruns. Advises construction teams (and assists as needed) with developing baseline CPM schedules in Asta Powerproject and performing schedule updates, which include:

• Recounting of actual progress, and accounting for potential schedule impacts.
• Logic/sequence revisions forecasting planned work and/or recovery plans, when applicable.
• Production of lookahead schedules for use at Foreman Meetings.

Product Design Management Support: Implements Lean Project Delivery techniques (e.g., The Last Planner System, Target Value Delivery), as appropriate, to shape design deliverables and workflow during the design process, including critical decisions regarding design packaging to support cost certainty and entitlements. Analyzes project facts and conditions, communicates lessons learned, and implements recommendations for correction or improvement on future projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Experience:

• At least five (5+) years of construction project management OR related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Displays excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including with executive management to obtain support and required resources. Creates and delivers presentations on function-related subject matter and authors reports in a clear, concise form.
• Technical and analytical expertise with financial calculations/metrics (pro forma financials to monitor work progress), budget creation (budget management and cost reports), contract administration, and strong analytical skills (in-depth analysis of all bids to ensure their quality, completeness, and comparative value).
• Demonstrates proficiency in project management tools (Primavera Unifier, Asta Powerproject) and methodologies (CPM, Lean Project Delivery), software implementation and problem solving.
• Exhibits knowledge of principles and practices of construction, redevelopment, and capex project management, including safety standards.
