    Role Overview:

    The General Counsel will play a pivotal role in optimizing operational efficiencies and leading our in-house legal team. With a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar capacity, the ideal candidate will bring a profound understanding and expertise in managing general corporate functions. The ideal candidate will have exceptional negotiating skills across a spectrum of real estate domains including joint venture agreements, institutional capital relationships, anchor store leases, national retail tenants, construction (AIA), development, design, financing, and transactional shopping center or landlord real estate agreements.

    Key Responsibilities/Duties:

    • Legal Leadership: Guide and manage our in-house legal team, fostering an environment of high performance, continuous improvement, and alignment with our company values.
    • Operational Efficiency: Drive the legal operational efficiencies that support our expansive portfolio, ensuring seamless integration with our core business functions.
    • Leasing Support: Offer comprehensive legal support for our leasing activities, from the letter of intent through to store opening and operations.
    • Acquisition and Disposition: Oversee and manage the legal aspects of property acquisitions and dispositions, ensuring thorough due diligence and impeccable transactional document handling.
    • Analytical Excellence: Utilize strong analytical skills to navigate complex legal scenarios, ensuring both innovative solutions and adherence to our high standards.
    • Negotiation and Drafting: Demonstrate superior negotiation and drafting skills, crafting agreements that protect and advance our interests while fostering sustainable partnerships.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic background.
    • Experience: At least 10 years' experience as a General Counsel in real estate, with a strong preference for backgrounds in retail shopping centers, joint venture partnerships, and AIA contracts.
    • Skills: Exceptional negotiation, drafting, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, coupled with a strong customer service orientation and an unwavering commitment to integrity and quality.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Physical Demands: Ability to effectively communicate, exchange information, and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced office environment. Travel may be required.

    Work Environment: The role is primarily office-based, with extended hours during peak periods to meet our goals and commitments.
