    Position Summary

    / Career Interest:The Sonography Supervisor is accountable for the daily operations of the Medical Sonography Division. This
    includes the direct oversight of all technical, business and personnel related aspects of ensuring safe patient
    care. This job description has been approved by the Radiology Director, Chairman of Radiology, and
    Executive Committee of the Medical Staff.

    Responsibilities:

  • Functions with limited supervision in maintaining organizational accountability for meeting the mission and vision expectations.
  • Maintains standards and provides support documentation for successful demonstration of compliance to ACR, JCAHO and KDHE code compliance.
  • Performs direct patient care as required to meet patient care needs.
  • Must be able to step in and perform all procedures independently without assistance, while working with various staff including physicians, nurses, residents, etc. to optimize patient care.
  • Plans, directs and supervises the activity of all staff in the Sonography section of
  • Radiology and is responsible for ensuring that all activity is performed in an efficient, organized and safe manner.
  • Provides instruction to Sonography technical students, medical students and residents
  • regarding sonography exams and equipment when appropriate; coordinates with
  • ancillary personnel as needed.
  • Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments as provided by the Assistant Director or Director.
  • Responsible for the overall maintenance, evaluation and performance of all equipment in the division and Sonography section of Breast Imaging.
  • Responsible for the preparation of all reports and documentation to support
  • Sonography including budgets, purchasing, staffing, performance improvements, etc.
  • Work with Department Director as requested to support various teams, committees, performance improvement activities
  • *Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Required

  • BLS Certification
  • Credentialed RDMS and RVT or RVS by the American Registry of Diagnostic
  • Medical Sonography (A.R.D.M.S.)
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven technical competence and expanding leadership accountability in
  • a mid to large size hospital with credible volumes.
  • Preferred

  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
  • Specialty Exams in AB, OB/GYN, BR and VT administered by the A.R.D.M.S.
  • Bachelor Degree in meaningful technical or management field
  • In an Academic Setting
