RTC is looking to hire a catering helper This position reports to the Manager of Food Service Operations.

Under the direct supervision of the cook, lead cook or other supervisor, the incumbent performs a variety of kitchen functions to assist others to prepare meals in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include

• Preps, assists and completes designated cooking and kitchen functions, or assists others in these tasks.
• Properly completes food requisition forms.
• Assists in maintaining the operational flow of patrons during the meal.
• Set-up designated dining rooms and/or buffet lines.
• May assist others to serve beer and wine during on-campus events.
• Performs designate security functions.
• Completes cleaning tasks to appropriate standards in assigned area.
• Demonstrates job functions to students and report on student activities to instructor.
• Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, providing friendly customer service to patrons.
• Complies with the health department rules and regulations at all times.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• May perform the duties of the busser and dishwasher on occasion.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Food Service Operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Successful experience with diverse populations of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds.
• Ability to receive and maintain a food handlers permit form the health department.
• Ability to understand written and oral instruction given in English and effectively communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Food Handlers Permit

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primary duties involve standing for hours at a time, walking, and lifting heavy objects (trays, plates, glassware racks, etc.). Work is primarily performed in the food services area which is adequately heated and ventilated. Occasional work near hot ovens and grills as well as a sedentary office environment. Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens in performing work assignments.
