    Job Title: Phlebotomist

    Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for drawing blood samples from patients, verifying patient information, labeling samples accurately, and ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for patients during the blood draw process. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients of all ages.
    2. Verify patient identity and collect relevant medical information to ensure accurate labeling and documentation of specimens.
    3. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials and adherence to infection control protocols.
    4. Interact with patients in a courteous and professional manner, explaining procedures and alleviating any fears or concerns they may have.
    5. Handle specimens with care to prevent contamination or mislabeling, following established laboratory procedures and safety guidelines.
    6. Prepare specimens for transportation to the laboratory, ensuring timely delivery and proper handling to maintain sample integrity.
    7. Assist in maintaining inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment, restocking as needed to ensure uninterrupted service.
    8. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely processing of laboratory specimens and results.
    9. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in phlebotomy techniques and technology.
    10. Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy rights at all times, adhering to HIPAA regulations and ethical standards.

    Qualifications:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification preferred.
    2. Proven experience as a Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting, with proficiency in venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques.
    3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
    4. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to accurately label specimens and maintain thorough documentation.
    5. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures, including specimen handling and processing.
    6. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
    7. Commitment to maintaining patient safety and confidentiality, with a strong understanding of infection control protocols and regulatory requirements.
    8. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support patient care services.
    9. CPR certification may be required, depending on the employer's policies and state regulations.
