- A minimum of 5 or more years of experience as a Buyer, preferably in the food industry
- Experience handling international food imports is a definite plus
- Formal Training and Certified Supply Chain Experience (CPIM Preferred)
- Experience working with ERP/MRP/DRP systems
- Advanced knowledge of working with Global Food Safety Initiative
- Excellent excel skills to include V-look ups, data mining, pivot tables and equations
- Demonstrate a high degree of customer service orientation and negotiation skills
- Possess a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
- Bachelor degree preferred but not required
- Ensures that supply planning documentation aligns with contractual requirements and adjusts orders as needed
- Embraces the responsibility to own and monitor demand exceptions, assessing potential inventory exposure while recommending corrective solutions.
- Manage vendor documentation to correctly execute agreements with a full understanding of the implications of specifications, certificates, dating, transportation, etc.
- Be able to understand and analyze quotes based on all relevant terms, including but not limited to: freight, payment packaging, timing, etc.
- Oversight of the daily expedition process including manufacturing orders, confirming available inventory and expediting shortages for assigned vendors.
- Have a solid understanding of shipping terms and methods
- Establish and build vendor and broker relationships.
- Analyze sales vs. purchases.
- Identify appropriate vendors to satisfy purchasing needs and maintain the necessary inventory levels at competitive terms.
- Have a solid understanding and the ability to demonstrate working knowledge and applicability of Incoterms and the ability to apply that knowledge to make sound decisions and recommendations.
- Ensure on time product and supply deliveries including the coordination of relevant Purchase Orders for all materials, external services, packages and subcontractors to minimize impact to inventory/storage.
