- High school diploma or its equivalent required OR 5 years of work experience.
- One year of experience in the medical field preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical and billing procedures.
- Ability to effectively use a computer and phone system.
- Ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks in a high volume practice.
- Must understand the procedures associated with managed care plans.
- Must be personable and friendly at all times.

- Greets patients/visitors in a professional, courteous and helpful manner.
- Verifies patient demographic information and updates computer system.
- Scans/Copies all insurance cards.
- Collects and verifies managed care referrals.
- Registers patients for visit.
- Answers telephones promptly, identifies self and directs calls as appropriate.
- Covers other receptionists during absence, including the DME Department.
- Provides rotating on-call coverage for weekend hours.
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude towards patients, co-workers and physicians.
- Keeps work area orderly and neat.
- Handles difficult situations tactfully.
- Posts charges, cases, referrals and any additional pertinent information.
- Issues work and/or school notes.
- Schedules appointments internally and for external referring offices.
- Reviews proper prep instructions for certain exams (US, DEXA, CT)
- Creates various orders ensuring that all pertinent information is collected and correct.
- Reviews MRI/CT/US/XRAY orders in advance for errors and follows up with the proper team or office for corrected order before acquiring orders to Cleveland.
- Utilizes two separate systems, Medent & Cleveland Clinic (Syngo) on a daily basis.
- Reviews Imaging reports and charges.
- Stays on top of buckets for Cleveland Reports, Documents, Inbound/Outbound faxing, TO-DO's, Order Buckets, and Scheduling Overflow
- Back - up for assisting research requests for MRI Clearance.
- Utilizes Craneware for Medical Necessity check.
- Reconciles daily charges/payments.
- Trains and mentors newly hired Receptionists.
- Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:The basic function of the Imaging Department receptionist is to efficiently process all patient office visits while providing exceptional customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

Must be proficient in the English language, both verbally and written, in order to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, vendors, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged sitting. Light physical effort; some standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping; manual dexterity to operate keyboard and other equipment; detail oriented; able to maintain a pleasant and courteous demeanor under all circumstances. Occasionally lifts 25 pounds while assisting with patient transfers.
