Clinch Valley Health is in search of a Registered Nurse for the Surgery and OR department.

Reporting to the Director of Surgery under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Staff Registered Nurse is tasked with planning, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for their assigned patients through the nursing process.

The RN ensures the provision of care adheres to set standards and contributes to managing staff (such as LPNs, ORT/CSTs, Nursing Assistants, Secretaries), as well as overseeing departmental supplies and equipment.

Professional responsibility and collaboration characterize the RN's approach, working with ancillary departments and healthcare team members to define and achieve patient goals while upholding top-notch patient care standards.

Tasks include preparation for surgeries, fulfilling the circulating role, and potentially assisting physicians in the scrub role.

Demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills, the RN delivers care tailored to the requirements of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations served.

The Staff RN manages, delegates, and coordinates the nursing care for a specific patient group.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates personalized patient care.
- Provides oversight and assigns duties to LPNs, ORTs/CSTs, and Nursing Assistants, verifying work accuracy.
- Supervises medication administration within the sterile field.
- Ensures department readiness for patient care at all times.
- Upholds safety and infection control policies to sustain a secure environment.
- Checks emergency supplies and equipment daily.
- Might engage in the scrub and/or circulating roles during surgeries.

Additional duties may be assigned by the Director of Surgery or the Chief Nursing Officer as needed.

The role mandates a minimum of six (6) months of relevant clinical nursing experience.

New hires must undergo an orientation program with sufficient duration and content to equip them for hospital duties before administering direct patient care within thirty (30) days of joining.

Demonstrating proficiency in the unit's requirements, including passing an annual medication proficiency test, is essential.
