    Position Information

    Position Description:

    The Department of Plant Pathology is looking for a qualified candidate for a 10-month position to Design, execute, interpret, and summarize field experiments dealing with diseases of potato. Assist in the application of disease management strategies for soil, field, and storage diseases of potatoes, and in preparation of research reports and their disseminations.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent in agricultural science or related field
  • Knowledge and experience with agricultural plot research
  • Knowledge of agricultural production systems
  • A basic knowledge of potato pathology and potato diseases
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to accomplish the research goals
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment with frequent exposure to dust, pollen, noise, cold, heat, walking on uneven ground and lifting/carrying up to 100 pounds
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Certified Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain a license
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • U.S. farm experience
  • Prior experience and expertise in greenhouse and field evaluation of potato diseases
  • Knowledge of potato production systems
  • Knowledge of general farm practices and operation of machinery
  • Knowledge of the use of agricultural pesticides
  • Working knowledge of computer software/hardware
