    Are you ready to step into the role of R.V. Machinist 1st Class in the Ops/VEM at SEPTA?


    As the sixth largest transportation system in the United States, SEPTA plays a crucial role in the economic success of the Philadelphia region by providing reliable transportation services across a vast network.


    Position Overview:


    As an R.V. Machinist 1st Class, you will be responsible for operating various machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Your duties will include fabricating, modifying, and repairing mechanical instruments, as well as setting up and operating shop equipment such as milling machines, grinders, and presses.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan and implement operations to repair or manufacture parts with precision
    • Operate a variety of machines to fabricate/repair metal components
    • Conduct non-destructive testing and maintain machine shop equipment
    • Perform metal hardening and hardness testing as required
    • Work on other job-related duties as needed

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a machinist
    • Ability to work from blueprints and drawings
    • Valid driver's license and own hand tools
    • Completion of related apprenticeship preferred
