    Overview

    American Management Association is looking for a

    Temp PT Accounting Specialist,


    who will ensure complete and systematic accounting records by performing clerical and bookkeeping tasks and applying accepted procedures during the verification, processing and entering of required data into the Accounts Payable System in accordance with internal Finance policies.

    May assist with duties in other functional areas.

    Responsibilities

    Compile and capture required information in the A/P system (i.e. vendor data, GL account numbers, meeting numbers, project numbers, etc.) to account for vendor invoices, speakers invoices and customer refunds in an accurate and timely manner.
    Verify proper approval authority and supporting documentation on all invoices.
    Correspond with vendors and colleagues within AMA business units in both written and verbal communication.
    Assist with vendor statement reconciliations and report the status of accounts and discrepancies
    Assist with GL account reconciliations
    Respond to ad hoc requests for reporting and financial information
    Participate in special projects as needed
    Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    High School Graduate plus 4 years of relevant experience Or 2 year degree in Business plus 2 years of relevant experience
    Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and financial transactions

    Technology skills:
    Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and personal computers required; Familiarity with Great Plains preferred
    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while multitasking and maintaining accuracy
    Attention to detail and organizational abilities
    Demonstrated problem solving skills
    Ability to perform in a cross-functional team environment
    Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and coworkers
    Reliability and strong work ethic
    Certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
    Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform tasks
    Works under general supervision
