Job Summary

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the information technology infrastructure and communication tools within Peninsula Truck Lines. This role supports the Company's mission by ensuring the security, high reliability/availability, performance, and usability of the network and servers. Reports to IT Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers and datacenter infrastructure. Design and implement improvements as necessary.
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Active Directory, including DNS.
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure, including firewalls, network circuits, and other services, supporting 16 locations, with an emphasis on security and high availability.
Monitor and maintain mobile device/telecom infrastructure.
Monitor and maintain backup systems and regularly participate in restoration tests.
Produce and maintain detailed diagrams, technical process documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
Participate in cross functional projects and assist team to ensure projects are completed on-time and in-scope.
Monitor network performance and reliability to identify potential problems. Recommend and implement upgrades and updates.
Provide on-demand support for end user and operational issues relating to infrastructure performance and availability.
Participate in an after hours on call rotation to provide support.
Stay current on the latest technology and adhere to design, configuration and security best practices and policies.
Will perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Education:

5+ years performing IT Administration in an enterprise network environment.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field OR equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong understanding of network and systems architecture.
Strong ability to assess and understand the company's business needs involving infrastructure and security.
Thorough knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices.
Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, and common routing protocols and network protocols.
Thorough knowledge of high availability and redundant networks.
Detailed knowledge of the Microsoft stack, Active Directory, and Hyper-V environments.
Ability to create and read technical documentation and network diagrams.
Demonstrated analytical, deductive reasoning and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated customer service skills and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with other team members to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Constant sitting at a desk with repetitive hand movements to operate a computer for long periods of time.
Ability to bend below waist level to adjust operating hardware on occasion.
Ability to lift/pull/push up to 50lbs with or without accommodation.
Ability to travel to, and move about in, field locations.
Ability to work non-traditional or extended hours based on business need.
