    American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of pediatric experience and prior travel experience, working 12-hour night shifts in an acute care hospital setting.

    Responsibilities

    • Acute care hospital setting, Pediatric Med/Surg unit with 8 beds
    • General medical/surgical pediatric patient population
    • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, adjusting to 1:5 depending on acuity; nurse aides available at a 1:8 ratio
    • RNs are required to titrate drips, including fluids and medications
    • RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips using a central monitor at the nurses station (Philips monitors); no monitor techs on unit
    • Respiratory therapy equipment in use, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
    • Pediatrician not in house 24/7; Advanced Practice Providers available during evening hours and ED providers available after hours
    • EMR: Epic
    • 12-hour night shifts (7P–7A)
    • Rotating weekends (every other) and holiday coverage required
    • Self-scheduling is available, though schedule adjustments may be made for unit coverage needs
    • No on-call or standby requirement
    • Floating may be required to the Nursery/NICU
    • Scrub color: Navy
    • Unit-specific orientation is provided
    • Holiday coverage is required during the contract period
    • Flexibility to pick up occasional day shifts is preferred, though the contract is for nights
    • Former travelers who have worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning
    • Travelers are not permitted to work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without a 2-year break
    • 13-week contract

    Requirements

    • Active WV or compact RN license required
    • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
    • Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
    • Prior travel nursing experience required
    • Ability to titrate drips required
    • Willingness to float to Nursery/NICU as needed
    • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
    • Driver's license required for consideration
    • Two professional references required: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)
