Job DescriptionThe automotive industry is a dynamic market for leading-edge semiconductor solutions that help ensure vehicles that are feature rich and safe to drive.
Synopsys is a world leader in providing semiconductor IP solutions for the automotive industry and is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer whose primary mandate is to ensure that Synopsys Automotive IPs comply with ISO 26262 and related standards for automotive functional safety and reliability.
This position requires interactions with Synopsys' internal development teams around the globe to ensure conformance to quality, functional safety, and automotive reliability requirements.
There is opportunity to interface with Synopsys' external customers and third-party service providers.Some domestic and international travel is required.
Responsibilities
Guide development teams in functional safety development and analysis across disciplines of planning, concept, design, implementation, and verification for hardware, firmware, embedded software, or mixed products and solutions
Perform in-depth examinations of qualitative and quantitative functional safety analyses such as confirmation reviews of FMEDA, DFMEA, DFA and FTA
Perform in-depth examinations of key documents such as architecture specifications, technical safety concepts, and definition of functional safety mechanisms
Assist in execution of functional safety assessments
Work with customers, field teams, and product teams to evaluate customer requirements related to quality, functional safety, and automotive reliability
Help evolve Synopsys' Functional Safety Development process and Quality Management System
Requirements
University degree in Electronic/SW Engineering or Computer Science
Highly proficient in verbal and written English
Demonstratable understanding of functional safety concepts
Experience as a Functional Safety Architect or Engineer in development of safety critical applications
At least 5 years of system, hardware, and/or software development including strong understanding of product lifecycle management
Direct experience conducting various functional safety analysis such as FMEDA, DFMEA, DFA and/or FTA
Experience contributing to functional safety work products such as Technical Safety Concept, Safety Plan, Safety Case, and/or Safety Manual
Direct experience in developing or applying best practices for one or more of documentation management, change management, or configuration management
Experience writing technical specifications
Advantages
Formal training in ISO 26262
Working knowledge of automotive reliability standards such as AEC Q100
Working knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949
Knowledge of semiconductor development flows
Working knowledge of ISO 26262:2018 or some of its parts
