Job summary
The Resident Director (RD) position is a full-time, live-in professional staff position of Housing & Residential Education and the Student Affairs Division at the University of Utah.The RD provides coordination of a comprehensive student-focused program for a residential community of 5 to 9 buildings housing 300 to 800 students. The RD has immediate supervision of a staff consisting of Assistant Residential Education Coordinators, and indirect supervision of Resident Advisors. The RD chairs a departmental committee providing assistance with system-wide collateral processes including training assessment in-services advising student groups diversity initiatives liaisoning other Student Affairs offices etcSuccessful RDS have strong supervisory communication administrative crisis management skills vision enthusiasm flexibility commitment are also highly desiredSuccessful RDS will have excellent management proven problem solving skillsThe RD reports directly to an Assistant Director for Residential EducationHousing & Residential EducationandtheUniversityofUtahvalueinteractionsamongindividualswithvaryingtraditions,cultures.orientation.religiousbeliefs.economicbackgrounds.andracial/ethnicorigins.TheystronglyencourageapplicationsfromcandidateswhowillshareandexplorethisvaluewiththeHousing&ResidentialEducationteamandwiththeresidents.
