    ESA (Grade 5A)


    • Practices according to entity mandatory requirements.
    • Practices according to department expectations.

    • Provides care for patients according to facility, JCAHO and the law.

    PCT (Grade 7)


    • Must be courteous to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Participates in patient care and other unit activities under the direct supervision and guidance of the professional Registered Nurse
    • Assists patients with activities of daily living as delegated by RN.
    • Performs direct care activities, including/assisting with bed baths, bed & stretcher making (occupied/unoccupied for patient flow and efficient turnaround time.
    • Orients patients to their exam room, including clothing list, television, and call lights
    • Obtains accurate vital signs, height & weight, pulse oximetry, and documents in Emergency Department Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • Performs Unit specific patient care as directed by RN
    • Intake & output (I&O excluding IV therapy)
    • Post-Mortem Care; i.e; washes and dresses bodies of deceased persons
    10. 12 Lead EKG's


    • Set up Holter monitoring for patients based on physician order, if needed.
    • Participates in/performs patient rounding (based on acuity) on patients
    • Provides direct observation (sitter/1:1) as necessary based on department need
    • Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples.
    • Performs Glucoscans when required.
    • May be required to retrieve blood products from the Blood Bank.
    • Cleans equipment and supplies as needed during/after patient care process.
    • Inventories assigned rooms and/or requisitions supplies as part of daily assignment.
    • Performs dressing care, and wound care by assisting in the process of a normal saline irrigation of minor wounds (lacerations and/or abrasions).
    • Demonstrates through clinical practice the use of universal precautions, understands the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens Standards.
    • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and/or practice in the prevention of TB transmission and adheres to all other infection control policies.
    • Must wear facility provided identification badge at all times.
    • Applies inline immobilization device (collars, back board), ordered soft splints, Does appropriate crutch-training
    • Equipment Inventory, Stocking of Equipment and Linen
    • Appropriately stocks patient rooms, IV carts, linen carts, and specialty carts
    • Checks all Patient Care Equipment
    • In collaboration with clinical team performs room turnovers, in preparation for patient use.
    • Other duties assigned within PCT scope and practice of care
    ESA (Grade 5A)


    • Successful passage of Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent (EMT, LPN, completion of one year of nursing school program which includes two semesters of clinical practice; military corps person).
    • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
    • Successful passage of CPI training within 4 months of hire and must maintain recertification every two years.
    • Successful passage of the Falmouth Hospital written competency exam for PSA.
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Reads, Speaks, writes in English.
    PCT (Grade 7)


    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum six (6) months experience in a health care setting
    • Phlebotomy
    • Must have taken the EKG course.
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) within 4 months of new position and must renew every two years
    • Must have ability to read, write, understand English
    • Current CNA license, or EMT-P, or recent military medic or Nursing Student (1 year of clinical rotation required and maintaining of 3.0 GPA)
    • Healthcare Professional Basic Life Support BLS.
