- Conduct ionic polymer synthesis following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the supervision of scientists.
- Assist in setting up chemical reactions with 1-10 liter size glass reactors, and cleaning up after the operations
- Monitor reaction parameters such as temperature, viscosity, and conversions to ensure optimal conditions for polymerization.
- Operate and maintain benchtop NMR
- Order and replenish laboratory supplies and chemicals as needed, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Associate degree from a community college or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in polymer synthesis or materials science.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced startup company environment.
- Capacity for lifting up to 50 lbs.

Captura is an early-stage technology start-up with the mission to develop globally scalable carbon removal to support a sustainable future for the world's climate. Captura's unique technology was developed and proven in Caltech's laboratories and uses established electrochemical concepts to enable gigaton-scalable solutions for removing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere via direct ocean capture. We capture carbon dioxide using only renewable electricity and seawater, creating no byproducts. CO2-depleted seawater is returned to the ocean to absorb CO2 that comes from the atmosphere.
The Lab Technician for Polymer Synthesis is responsible for supporting the research and development activities within the industrial polymer synthesis laboratory. This role involves conducting experiments, analyzing data, and ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory equipment to facilitate the synthesis and testing of polymers for various electrochemical applications.
