Overtime – While we are all hard workers, we are respectful of your personal time and accordingly, we do not ask employees to work overtime.
Although we're thinking of this as a 40-hour / week role, we will consider strong candidates who may prefer to work fewer hours – as few as 20 hours / week.
And regardless of the working hours we agree upon, we will respect the hours you agree to commit to Excelsior each week.
Sabbaticals – Taking an extended break from work shouldn't have to mean taking an unpaid leave or finding a new job.
Stipends – We offer all employees annual stipends to cover professional development costs ($2,500 / yr. for CPA's & $1,500 / yr. for all others) and expenses to maintain and customize your home office ($700 / yr.).
Best-in-Class Benefits – Our standard benefit offerings include a 401(k) plan with a flat 3% employer contribution, high quality health insurance (70/30 company/employee premium split), dental & vision insurance (50/50 company/employee premium split), as well as short-term disability, long-term disability and life insurance that are all fully paid for by the company.
Excelsiversary – Each year, on your anniversary with the company, Excelsior will reimburse you up to $300 to spend on something fun.

As the leader of our business development and growth efforts, you will play a pivotal role in Excelsior's next chapter.

Your primary mission will be to connect Excelsior with companies that can benefit from our services – and to ensure those relationships are the right fit for both sides.
This isn't a hard-sell, high-pressure sales role.We have an exceptional service, extraordinarily high client retention, and a team of talented professionals our clients love working with.
Since founding the company in 2018, we have only ever had one client leave Excelsior for another accounting service provider – and even that client later returned.
The opportunity here is about making more of the right people aware of what we've built.If you believe the best business development comes from genuine relationships and a great product, this role was made for you.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Identifying, cultivating and managing relationships with referral sources in the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area
Building and maintaining a pipeline of prospective clients that align with Excelsior's service offerings and values
Representing Excelsior at networking events, industry conferences and community gatherings
Evaluating prospective client opportunities for alignment with Excelsior's values and capacity, in collaboration with the Founder and Senior Manager team
Contributing ideas and recommendations related to marketing initiatives, including website content, articles, newsletters, advertising and public relations efforts
Developing a deep understanding of Excelsior's services to credibly articulate our value proposition to prospective clients and referral partners
Tracking and reporting on business development activities, pipeline status and results
Our ideal clients are privately held, for-profit companies with approximately $3 million to $20 million in annual revenue, though we also serve a diverse mix of nonprofit organizations and earlier-stage start-ups.
Many of our client relationships originate through referrals from auditors at public accounting firms who, due to independence requirements, are unable to provide outsourced accounting services to their audit clients.
Building and nurturing these referral relationships will be central to your success.
Candidates well suited for this position are relationship-oriented professionals who are comfortable engaging with business owners, CFOs, auditors and other senior professionals.
A positive, friendly and genuine demeanor – people should enjoy spending time with you
A strong accounting or finance background, with a solid understanding of the needs and challenges faced by small-to-medium sized businesses (CPA license preferred but not required)
Existing professional relationships or a demonstrated ability to build a network in the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area, particularly within the public accounting and professional services communities
Comfort and confidence meeting with prospective clients and referral sources, including the ability to speak credibly about accounting and financial reporting topics
An ability and interest to work independently (we do not micromanage and depend on team members to be proactive and take initiative)
A consultative, relationship-first approach to business development – this is not a transactional sales role
Strong alignment with Excelsior's mission and values, including our commitment to employee wellbeing, diversity and community impact
A desire to join a small but growing family of professionals making a real difference for our clients
The following are not required but would be considered a plus:
Experience with or interest in marketing, including content creation, social media, newsletters or public relations
Prior experience in a business development, client relationship or client-facing advisory role
Familiarity with or experience serving nonprofit organizations
Compensation
This position offers a competitive compensation package consisting of a strong fixed base salary plus a variable performance-based component tied to new client engagements.
We believe in providing the financial security needed to focus on building the right relationships – not just closing the quickest deal.
Total target compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include access to the same best-in-class benefits available to all Excelsior employees, as described above.
LocationThis role requires a presence in the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area.
While Excelsior's team works primarily remotely, the nature of this position involves regular in-person meetings with prospective clients, referral sources and members of the local business community.
