Job DescriptionAbout New Jersey Electric Motors:
New Jersey Electric Motors, Inc. has been providing excellent customer service as a family owned and operated business since 1975. Our commitment to our customers is the reason for our continued success. We understand unscheduled downtime results in lost time, production, and money.
NJEM repairs, redesigns, and refurbishes all types of electric motors up to 1,000hp and is the contracted/Preferred Vendor for electric motor repair and refurbishing shop for many marine shipping, railroad, and State agencies, in addition to numerous large HVAC and pumping businesses.
Responsibilities (NOTE: training provided):
· Training and Mastering of electric motor testing procedures
· Hands on disassembling and assembling of electric motors
· Preparing motors for rewinding (including obtaining rewind data and cutting insulation)
· Rebuilding electric motors (including making new coils and installing them into the motor frame)
· Shaping coils with forming fixtures (including using presses or mallets to conform with templates)
· Diagnosing and repairing small single-phase motors and industrial submersible pumps
· Soldering/Brazing (Tying ends and attaching leads by including soldering with solder pot and ladles, hand soldering iron, or, for smaller gauge wires, brazing)
· Advanced techniques learning how to redesign for special applications (including connecting motors, dipping, and baking processes, and parts fabrications)
Job Requirements:
· Positive attitude and eagerness to learn hands on electric motor repair
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time (standing is required for most repair work)
· Ability to lift up to 50lbs (overhead cranes and lifts available for moving heavier objects)
· Ability to communicate solutions to others, follow and retain procedures and instruction.
· Ability to demonstrate safe working knowledge of shop tools and equipment.
· Valid Driver's License
· Experience with mechanical or electric diagnosis, problem-solving and repair a plus
Important:
· Applicants need to have strong English communication skills
· Must be able to provide verifiable work eligibility documentation consistent with federal employment regulations.
· Trade school degree or certificate of completion highly preferred.
