    JOB DETAILS

    Title:
    Director of ESG


    Position Type:
    Full-Time (40 hours/week, Monday - Friday)


    Reporting Location:
    Remote or Carlsbad, CA


    Salary Range:
    $100,000 - $120,000/year


    Verdani Partners is seeking an experienced Director of ESG whose primary responsibility is to oversee and accelerate progress and performance on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals and targets for a large, diversified real estate portfolio comprised of existing buildings across office, retail, multifamily, and industrial properties.

    As part of the Verdani Corporate Sustainability team leading the ESG program for a real estate portfolio as an owner's representative, you will oversee program direction and management of a 3-person team that includes a ESG manager, ESG coordinators, data analyst, energy engineers and communications personnel.

    The Director of ESG will also guide relationships and collaboration with property and asset managers, third-party consultants, vendors and partner organizations.

    The Director of ESG will guide and steward strategy, implementation and management of corporate and asset level ESG strategy, leading ESG reporting and assessments, corporate sustainability policies and programs, engagement with internal and external stakeholders, environmental efficiency initiatives and performance, green leases, sustainable acquisitions, dispositions and development, and green and healthy building certifications.

    Your areas of experience shall also include existing buildings and new development, ESG reporting, corporate social responsibility, climate resilience and risk mitigation and adaptation, net zero, decarbonization and renewable energy, building energy and water efficiency, waste management and emissions reduction strategies.

    The Director shall also support monitoring and progress of other key governance and social initiatives including ESG and Sustainability Policies and Guidelines, Partnerships, Diversity and Inclusion including Board and Management Diversity and Pay Gap, Human Capital Development, Charitable Giving Programs, Occupant Health and Safety, and Health and Wellbeing.

    Depending on the candidate's experience level the role will also include providing strategic advisory services to a couple of portfolios.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    Required:
    Proficiency with reporting frameworks including GRESB, GRI, and UNPRI
    Understanding a wide landscape of regulatory policy and compliance requirements
    Professional experience with commercial real estate
    10+ years professional experience in related field
    5+ years professional experience in Corporate Sustainability Management, Real Estate, Sustainability, or related fields
    Excellent quantitative skills and established analytical ability
    Demonstrated interest in capital markets and commercial real estate
    Familiarity with building systems and local/state benchmarking regulations
    Experience managing relationships and setting expectations with sustainability and ESG teams, asset managers, property managers, and project teams
    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    Performance oriented with the ability to adapt to meet the needs of the company
    Excellent customer service and people skills
    Public speaking skills (industry conferences, meetings with internal global teams)
    Experience/familiarity

    with data management tools such as Measurabl
    Experience with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
    Proficiency with MS Office applications, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) & ability to learn new applications

    Preferred:
    Master's Degree in related field
    Bachelor's Degree with a Major(s) in Environmental Science, Architecture, Engineering, Energy
    Professional credentials and licenses such as LEED AP, CEM, etc.
    Ability to manage, manipulate and analyze utility billing and usage data (energy, water, waste, emissions)
    Experience with key reporting frameworks including TCFD, CDP, SASB and GRI, among others
    Proficiency with green building and building health certification rating systems including LEED, ENERGY STAR, Fitwel, WELL, etc.
    Knowledge of and experience with leading industry partners such as USBGC, ULI Greenprint, GRESB, BOMA, etc.
    Experience/familiarity

    with Microsoft collaboration tools including Sharepoint and Teams

    LANGUAGES
    Fluent in English. Exceptional written and communication skills.
