KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Division of Allergy, Immunology, & Rheumatology in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking an academic faculty member at the rank of Instructor in Allergy/Immunology with specific expertise in allergic diseases. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will be a full-time Columbia University faculty position with full fringe benefits. The individual must have the ability to advance medical knowledge and translate it into clinically relevant strategies for diagnosis and treatment of allergic and immunologic conditions. The individual will be joining an actively growing and expanding research and clinical operation covering a wide range of allergic and immunologic disorders and research programs. Responsibilities will include patient care, active participation in resident and fellowship education, and participation in clinical, translational, and basic research. The ideal candidate should be a physician-scientist able to develop niche clinical programs, perform laboratory-based research in a mentored setting, and compete for independent research funding toward the goal of becoming a Principal Investigator. The position will be funded for at least two years, and responsibilities will be broken up as follows: 75-80% research effort and 20-25% clinical effort.
Must have a MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License.
Must be board certified/board eligible in Pediatrics, or Internal Medicine, and Allergy/Immunology with clinical training in pediatrics.
Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines;
The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each other's contributions and the ability to share and celebrate success with colleagues and staff.
Must have significant experience in allergy- or immunology-related laboratory research
