needs**Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities+ Computer operation as relevant to patient analysis, result reporting accurate intake of patient demographics, obtaining reimbursable diagnosis/reason for visit.+ Procurement of patient specimens for analysis.+ Inventory record keeping and supplies as directed.+ Bench maintenance as described in Blood-borne Pathogen Standard Manual.+ Dispensation of patient results.+ Train new laboratory and emergency room employees, cross train to all laboratory assistant work areas.+ Mobile phlebotomy, nursing home and sick call on-call as directed.+ As directed, processes specimens that are being sent to reference laboratories.+ Patient registration, receptionist duties, specimen collection and processing at various laboratories on / off site drawing stations._It is understood that this is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required._
Education/Experience Required+ Two years lab assistant experience.+ Written and verbal English skills at 12th grade level.+ Ability to perform statistical analysis at 12th grade level.
Registration/Certification+ PBT (ASCP) or equivalent required. Must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Physical/Environmental RequirementsThis job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
