    ELIGIBILITY:
    Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.


    CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK:

    Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.


    PROBATION:
    All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.


    CLASS DESCRIPTION
    A Community Health Nurse Supervisor II plans, develops and implements a community health-nursing program or supervises nurse supervisors. Work of this class involves directing the activities of nursing and office work units.

    Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where there are no uncomfortable working conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.


    SELECTION PROCESS

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:


    EDUCATION:
    Have a master's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university.


    EXPERIENCE:

    Have four years of experience as a registered nurse, two of which must have been in community health nursing, including one year of supervising community health nurses with responsibility for disciplining, evaluating the performance of and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of such staff.

    NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): Have one year of additional experience may be substituted for the master's degree. Non-supervisory experience or education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience.

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS,


    AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    Have a current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland or registered nurse licensure from a Multi-State Licensure Compact participant state is required.

    • Ability to counsel others in health problems and concerns.
    • Ability to oversee the activities of nurses and auxiliary personnel.
    • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
    • Ability to maintain records and reports.

    EXAMINATION PROCESS
