    URGENTLY HIRING - Currently 1 opening for a highly qualified RN or BSN Supervisor

    This position is for a permanent Part-Time role:
    • Onsite 4 hours per week (maybe split across several days).
    • Provide for staff med certification and annual CPR training for staff.
    • The availability of 24-hour on-call via phone to address client medical needs and to meet the requirements of SHC Licensure.
    • This position provides oversight of all medical decisions within the facility for clients and the functions of the SHC staff related to nursing activities.
    • The Nurse Supervisor will review and approve all documentation and work conducted by the Client Nursing Assistant and sign off on work for grants, funding, and accreditation weekly.
    • The scope of this role is to ensure that the Client Nursing Assistant meets all objectives of the job description below and that SHC Child Services meets all Administrative Rules and Accreditation requirements for Group Homes in South Dakota.
    • Must meet the minimum requirements of a Registered Nurse in the state of SD and hold/maintain the appropriate license throughout employment.
    • Must meet and manage the standards of the Client Nursing Assistant's job duties and responsibilities.
    Pay = $50 per hour (approximately 208 hours per year or 4 hours per week) + $50 per day on-call pay (required 24-hour phone access to meet licensing requirement)

    Child Services Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Summary:

    The CSNA Staff is responsible for implementing treatment protocols and primary care for Sacred Heart Center clients. The position also provides and initiates preventive health services including scheduling immunizations, and health screening measures including vision, auditory dental, and physical assessment. The position will implement the wellness/education programs established by the Nurse Supervisor or other Medical Professionals for Sacred Heart Center staff. The CSNA is responsible for general assistance in the operations of client health and wellness, including setting and transporting clients to appointments and providing client support under the direction of the Department Director.

    To be successful as the Child Services Nursing Assistant, the incumbent will demonstrate excellent medical (equivalent to their licensure) and organizational skills and be able to make proper decisions and use judgment to complete the responsibilities of the position. The CSNA will meet regularly with the Supervising Nurse and Department Directors to provide updates on client-related health issues. The CSNA will work with administration and department directors to coordinate and deliver health services to clients. In addition, will coordinate activities to promote wellness amongst SHC staff.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities:
    1. Provides general healthcare and preventive health services to all Sacred Heart Center clients including guidance in nutrition, common illnesses, growth and development, infectious diseases, and hygiene as established by the Supervising Nurse and other Medical Professionals.
    2. Organizes and maintains medical records for all clients and updates medical records as needed or assigned.
    3. Provides training and education to SHC staff on client health-related issues within the scope of their licensure.
    4. Provide or assist with CPR/First Aid training to all SHC staff as assigned.
    5. Coordinates care for all clients including scheduling appointments and transporting clients to medical-related appointments.
    6. Assists direct care staff regarding the health care needs of clients including dispensing prescription and non-prescription medication in compliance with Standing Orders and other directions by medical professionals.
    7. Provides treatment instructions to staff for clients as defined by the supervising nurse or other Medical Professionals.
    8. Provides health counseling and education to clients on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting when appropriate or assigned.
    9. Maintains complete and accurate client medical records.
    10. Attends all staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
    11. Maintain courteous and professional relationships with clients and other outside agencies.
    12. Regularly works 40 hours per week, but may work overtime as required, to meet the needs of SHC and its mission.
    13. Provides other services and work duties as needed to meet the needs of the Sacred Heart Center and its ability to carry out its mission.
    Supervision:
    1. Supervision Received:
    This position is directly supervised by the Supervising Nurse in all clinical/medical matters and by the Child Service Director in all other matters. This position will receive indirect oversight from other Program Directors, as necessary, to meet requirements for grants and/or Administrative Rules.

    2. Supervision Provided:

    This position is non-supervisory but may provide direction and guidance relating to the health care needs of clients if appropriate for their licensure. This position will be responsible for executing the final say regarding all medical decisions and concerns related to clients and staff as established by the Supervising Nurse and other Medical Professionals.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    1. Education and Experience:
    • HS diploma or GED is required.
    • Certified Nursing Assistant License with the state of SD preferred.
    • Med-Tech Certification is strongly preferred.
    • A Licensed Practicing Nurse certification/license is strongly preferred.
    • A Certificate or Associate Degree in Nursing is required depending on licensure requirements.
    • Experience with working with both at-risk youth and adults is preferred.
    • Comprehensive professional knowledge of medical assistant, nursing assistant, practices, and processes equivalent to licensure, including physical and emotional assessments.
    2. Skills & Abilities:
    • Maintain confidentiality in all departments
    • Computer skills - must possess intermediate computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook with the ability to learn job-specific programs and software
    • Interpersonal skills - must be able to communicate effectively with medical professionals, administrative staff, departmental staff, and clients
    • Job Knowledge - possess necessary skills to complete necessary tasks and duties for the position.
    • Background in working with at-risk youth and DV and SA victims is preferred.
    • Hold or obtain CPR/First Aid trainer certification within 6 months of employment.
    3. Additional Requirements:
    • Possess a valid South Dakota Driver's License
    • Must hold and maintain an appropriate valid license, if required, with the State of SD throughout employment
    • Must report any change in license status to the Administration immediately
    • Be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
    • Successfully pass pre-employment Drug Screen
    • Successfully pass Criminal Background Check. The following may disqualify any applicant from consideration:

      • Any violations, convictions, or restraints for actions made against children or vulnerable adults.
      • Any false, untrue statements or material omissions in the application and related paperwork or during the selection process.
    Physical Conditions:
    1. Work Environment:
    • Regularly working indoors in controlled temperatures and noise levels.
    • Routinely work with medical equipment including sharps, chemicals, etc.
    • Routinely work with clients with varying medical and health conditions with exposure to illnesses, body-borne pathogens such as blood-borne, etc.
    • The employee will routinely operate typical business office equipment.
    • Directly working with the clients while speaking and engaging verbally as required.
    • Operating a company vehicle daily as necessary to complete duties.
    2. Physical Requirements:
    • Use both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.
    • The ability to physically restrain clients using provided training and techniques.
    • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
    • Use of hands and wrists repetitively for extended periods of time.
    • Physical dexterity and endurance to safety conduct the duties of this job to include the use of fingers, hands, arms, legs, and body regularly throughout the workday.
    • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to or exceeding 8 hours per day.
    • The ability to remain alert to the surroundings and soundly make quick decisions to maintain the safety of persons both staff and clients.
