    Under general direction, the Senior IS Programmer Analyst works in the SFPD Technology Division and assigned to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) modernization project where they will be responsible for developing, testing, implementing, and supporting business intelligence solutions in Oracle Analytic Server (OAS), Oracle Data Integrator, and other Business Intelligence tools.

    Essential Duties include:

    • Programs and trains other analysts on NIBRS ETL/ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) projects & tasks.
    • Develop Oracle Analytic Server (OAS) dashboard and reports.
    • ETL/ELT development and maintenance for NIBRS based projects, and various team projects.
    • Development process responsibilities include but are not limited to scoping requirements, design, development, testing, presenting, release, documentation, training, and support.
    • Maintain development and production environments for OAS administration, OAS reporting, and user security for the SFPD Business Intelligence System.
    • Demo reports and dashboards to internal and external staff.
    • Work on GIS projects such as migration of data from OAS to ArcGIS.
    • May be required to be on call on an emergency basis.
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

    How to qualify

    1. Education: An associate degree in computer science or closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely related field].

    AND

    2. Experience: Three (3) years of full-time professional experience in application or software development or programming

    • Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

    One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

    • Demonstrated experience using the following applications:
      • Oracle Business Intelligence tools
      • Oracle Analytic Server (OAS)
      • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
      • ETL/ELT Experience (Oracle Data Integrator, SSIS, Informatica)

    Background Investigation:Prior to employment with the San Francisco Police Department, a thorough background investigation will be conducted to determine the candidate's suitability for employment. Reasons for rejection may include use of controlled substances and alcohol, felony conviction, repeated or serious violations of the law, inability to work with co-workers,inability to accept supervision, inability to follow rules and regulations or other relevant factors. Candidates may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening, and must clear Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprinting.
